Have raised my nephew. Guardianship given by unwed mother and father that has always been out of the picture 6 years ago. My husband and I want to adopt him to secure his future. He is 14 and wants us to adopt him. Can we adopt without their consent since they both signed the guardianship papers. Neither have given the child support, nor a birthday card or gift, or Christmas present since signing the guardianship papers. #1
